The United Way kicked off its fundraising efforts with a celebration Wednesday at the L & N Train Station in Clarksville.
With the theme of a campaign train, United Way Executive Director Ginna Holleman, along with Board President, Garnett Ladd and Campaign Chairman, Jim Sumrell invited the community on board for the United Way’s efforts for change in the Clarksville region.
“Those contributing to the United Way are making an investment into our community. The United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region works diligently to try to make the best out of the money that we get,” said Ladd.
United Way works with approximately 30 local partner agencies to provide solutions to critical community issues and prevent further concerns. Many agency representatives, board and committee members were on hand to share their experiences and the results on those they have served.
United Way’s Campaign Cabinet arrived on board a trolley to announce the 2012-2013 goal of $1,000,000.
“United Way is a great organization that allows citizens to invest in a cause that will directly affect the lives of their fellow citizens in Montgomery, Stewart and Houston Counties. Our goal is a challenging one, but one that is based on the true need of our community,” said Sumrell.
Sumrell added that your investment in the United Way makes a difference, no matter how large or how small. By giving to the United Way, you will make hope happen in a community we are proud to call home.
The term investments, instead of donations for the United Way were used over and over at Wednesday’s gathering. “We believe very strongly that those supporting the United Way are investing in our community and that it is our job as the United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region to use those investments for the greatest return,” said Holleman.
