United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region Sets Goal

August 25, 2011

Augsut 24th, Clarksville’s McGregor Park- United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region unveiled its goal of $800,000 for the 2011-2012 Campaign.   Executive Director Beckie Moore, along with Campaign Director Ginna Holleman and Board President Geoff Livingston of Green Bank, presented the figure to representatives from United Way partner agencies.

Agency representatives offered information about the services each provide in the community.  Moore recognized the efforts of all agencies and the impact they have on those in need. “We appreciate our partner agencies and the work they do each day in service to others.  In my book, they are truly life-changers,” she commented. “I strongly encourage everyone, in making their annual United Way contribution, to picture the much-needed programs offered in our service region and realize the power behind the dollar!”

United Way kicks off its campaign this week for local organizations hosting employee workplace campaigns.  Livingston urged attendees to be creative and supportive in their efforts.  “In these economic times, we find ourselves in an increasingly challenging role as fundraisers.  The need for services is ever increasing, yet the ability to give is suffering.  While it is difficult to ask donors to largely increase their contributions, the power of increasing individual donations by even a dollar per month has a tremendous effect when multiplied by the thousands who give.  Additionally, welcoming the support of new patrons helps reach our financial goals as well as our mission to serve as many people as possible in our communities.”

Holleman echoed their comments.  “It is our goal to bring new businesses on board, educate the community about the role of United Way and work together to increase dollars donated from a broad spectrum of supporters. It takes a team effort to complete our circle of hope. Together, UNITED, we can accomplish more than any single group can on its own.  That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED.”
